What Is A
Referendum?
A referendum is a means of taking a law passed
by the legislative body and submitting it to the
voters for their approval or rejection.
It is a
process for checking the normal representative
democracy through direct democracy under certain
circumstances.
In order
to place a referendum on the ballot you must get
a certain number of signatures from registered
voters. The number of signatures required is
dictated by state law.
